Guest lecturer at Maastricht Institute of Arts

Over the course of recent years (2017-2021) I had the pleasure of regularly being a guest lecturer at the Maastricht Institute of Arts.

As a guest lecturer my role was twofold; personal and interpersonal. I have provided one-on-one guidance, support and feedback on the artistic, personal and professional journey of art students. In addition, the students and I explored in group-workshops the way in which cultural production is not only an autonomous domain, but is also connected with political, economic and social structures. In these sessions we explored relationships between different disciplines and we try to question, grasp and redefine our own positions and assumptions time and again.

We have been discussing the following themes: (1) Theory as practice, practice as theory (2) The performativity of objects (3) Making sense and nonsense of websites and online presences (4) What does it mean to be an (un)professional artist?
