Open Source Urban Campus
2016 | Research based and educational group-project, Dakar (Senegal)
In 2016 I participated in 'Open Source Urban Campus', a two-week educational group-project located in Senegal, West-Africa. This projects main question was to find out how a temporary radical change of cultural conditions influences the making and learning processes within an artistic practice. The project included a visit to the Dakar Biennial Dak’Art, where participants met with curators and participating artists. After that, the group moved to the island Ile de Mar, one of Senegals most rural area’s.
While exploring our own research interests we operated as a 'learning community' and 'nomadic academy'. We continually shared and analyzed our findings and experiences within an educational and research driven proces. Topics of discussion and research ranged from post-colonial and de-colonial theories, the politics of institutional inclusion within the global art scene, interculturality and situated knowledges as artistic production methods, art tourism and the togetherness and craftsmanship within local communities.
