This photo series pays homage to the creative spirit of Roos, a beloved member of our friend group who passed away a few years ago. Roos was a passionate collage hobbyist and scrapbook maker. This photo series captures a small selection of the enormous collection of scrapbook materials Roos had collected. Although I never knew Roos personally — she passed away before I joined the friend group — every time I am in the studio, I create one or two collages using her materials, which I then photograph. In doing so, this series serves as both a ritual and a visual diary.

One day while I was working in my studio on this series, a "dagpauwoog" butterfly flew through the window and gently landed on Roos' things. Later, I learned that the same species of butterfly had been printed on her memorial card when she passed.
